Ramblings From a Broncos Fan

By Brian Bowling

Well, it looks like Denver is at it again, picking up Sam Adams in the free agent market. A runstopper like this man can only help the D in the long run. I mean, he’s huge and stops up any gap around. Add in names like DJ Williams, Ian Gold and our #1 draft pick Jarvis Moss and what are teams going to do? They won’t be able to pass with our two all-pro corners blanketing receivers and picking off passes! It’s only going to free up John Lynch to have a free for all on anybody that comes his way. Poor quarterbacks! And this is why San Diego will have such a hard time in the West – they won’t be able to do anything. In my opinion, the Chargers will be a Wild Card team at best and Denver will own them.

On a similar note, I’ve read a lot of the flak Seth Mills has been getting about his Pre-Season Power Rankings and his follow-up post about why the Chargers were ranked where they were. I have to say that he was accurate with their ranking. I mean, you have to be open minded and not let your love for your team get in the way. Case in point, Seth is a Tampa fan. Where did he rank his team? #20. I don’t know about you, but that’s a pretty fair ranking to me. He didn’t let his being a fan of them cloud his mind. Does that mean I agree with all of the rankings? Of course not, but I’m not going to say he wasn’t being fair. So stop crying over an opinion, people. After all, I haven’t heard any other fans from teams crying foul…

  1. Great post. Last year we went 5-6? weeks without allowing a touchdown, we are already good, add in the off-season additions and you have the makings of a top 3 defense. As I stated in my reply to the power rankings; we took a step back last year in order to bring in Cutler. Yet, if you factor in the first bona-fid stud rb since Clinton, the first playmaikng t.e since Sharpe, a more experienced Cutler, a softer schedule, and the motivatin of winning one to honor D-Will and Nash, you have a greatly imroved team. Not a desperate team; a driven one.

And why is it that no-one else has a problem w/ the rankings? Not K.C, not Oakland, only S.D. Maybe because they were dismissed at home by the Pats, and they feel cheated. Idunno, I admit that I felt cheated by the Steelers, but theres a big difference; we actually won a playoff game(against the Pats) and advanced to the conferance finals. Chargers seemed to be more upset by the mocking of the “lights out dance” than for getting beat @ home.

The Raiders quote has become “Commitment to excrement” but the Chargers should adopt the “Commitment to futility” as their moto. A couple years ago all the pundits dubbed them the “best team not to make the playoffs”, last year they were the best team not in the SuperBowl. So who will they be next year? The best team to have cleaned house the previous offseason? The best team to have almost won? Give me a break, and before everyone starts w/ the” what have the Broncos done lately” yippin
I would have them ask themselves what have the Chargers done EVER?
